We are the world's leading live streaming platform for gamers and the things we love. We make it possible to watch, play and chat with millions of other fans from around the world. We are looking for a Video Software Engineer to join our Broadcast Solutions team ASAP!


Job Overview:

The Video Software Engineer will be on the forefront of bringing new, cutting edge broadcast tools to first and 3rd party production partners.  This role will be responsible for helping to expand custom video playback systems geared towards enterprise broadcast environments, develop new enterprise-level tools, and support existing original content production workflows driving twitch technologies that power 500+ broadcasts yearly across some of the largest properties on our client's livestream platform. The ideal candidate for this role has extensive experience working with video decoding in a Linux environment, with experience in HLS and h.264 and is comfortable interacting directly with customers, working within a remote team, standard code development methodologies, and defining/managing tasks independently.  We’re looking for someone excited to help redefine the future of creating great content with Twitch!


You Will:

  • Build and maintain HLS video decoding and processing frameworks
  • Maintain video playback services
  • Build video storage and networking services
  • Maintain support libraries
  • Work with the team to create user experiences based around the video services

You Have:

  • Programming proficiency in: C++ and Go / GoLang 
  • Experience with video processing and playback pipelines
  • Deep knowledge of h.264 decoding on Linux
  • Experience with performance profiling
  • Experience with network programming, both local and cloud
  • A genuine interest in exploring new technologies and working backwards from the needs of the user
  • Comfort working independently and defining project scope/requirements

Bonus Points:

  • Understanding of traditional broadcast production workflows
  • Experience with video transmission interfaces, such as SDI and NDI
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Twitch and how users interact with the platform 
  • Understanding of microservice architecture development
  • Experience with creating UX in React/TypeScript
  • Experience with VP9 and AV1 video technologies
  • Programming proficiency in: TypeScript
